Sentate Con…

Sit with…. (2023)

A threaded needle sits atop a blanket between a wooden side table and the lap of a rocking chair. An antique lamp lights the scene while audio of a one-sided conversation in Spanish plays.

“I remember sitting by the leg of my grandpa's rocking chair as a kid. I remember the intimidation I felt from seeing his chair empty but warm when he was sitting in it. Now that it's permanently empty…. I had no other choice but to face grief. And realize it's a lifelong process; it comes and goes. You can sew (heal), patch it, and come to terms with it, like how it can be painful, but remember fond memories."
